Thanks for your interest in helping improve the welfare of farmed animals. This action is now closed as the petition to “Find the time to take the Kept Animals Bill through Parliament and make it law” was debated by MPs on 5th December 2022. You can read the transcript in Hansard.

The Government Minister, when responding to the debate, confirmed that the Bill will proceed, “as soon as we have parliamentary time that will allow us to move forward”. However, this is the answer that has been given for many months and no definite timeline was given for the passing of the Bill.

You can continue to put pressure on the Government to ban live exports, by sending an email to the Secretary of State, Thérèse Coffey, to demand that she ensures the Bill passes and this trade is stopped once and for all.
