Bake with compassion – Join other bakers far and wide raising funds and awareness for factory farmed animals. You can bake any time of year with Compassion – as every month is great for cake!
It’s time for the Great British Bake-Off – you can test your baking skills and try to keep up with the contestants on the show. Once you have baked your cakes sit back, relax and enjoy your yummy creations.
We want to raise awareness of factory farming by helping supporters and the public to bake with higher welfare produce. Bake with produce such as free-range eggs and organic dairy, or with vegan ingredients, and then hold your very own cake sale, dinner party or bake-off!

Bake with Compassion is a great way of raising awareness of our campaigns such as End the Cage Age.
A staggering 700 million European farm animals – hens, pigs, rabbits, ducks and quail – are kept in cages every year. These cages confine, restrict, and prevent many of the animals’ natural behaviours.
Even if you don’t eat animal products yourself, Bake with Compassion is a great opportunity to raise awareness and help end this outdated, unnecessary practice. Many people do not realise the cruelty behind some of the foods that they eat and you can help to inform them!
Here are some great ideas to help you on your way:
You could invite friends around for a tea party and charge an entry fee for your delicious bakes. Or how about staging a ‘come bake with me’ dinner party competition with friends or neighbours? Afterwards, you’re bound to have a handy recipe book, and you’ll have raised much-needed funds and awareness for farm animals everywhere!
In the workplace
It's fun and easy to get your colleagues involved. Organise a fun treasure trail around the office with baking prizes, or encourage everyone to bake a cake to sell to the workforce and keep them happy! This is a great opportunity to spread the word about Compassion and the benefits of higher welfare and vegan ingredients.
Ask your local school if they would be willing to hold an event where children can sell their cakes, or even set up a cake decoration station using icing and sprinkles. Sleepovers and birthday parties often involve cake, so why not use these opportunities to contribute to a good cause? You could even use a theme like superheroes, festive times of year... or of course, farm animals.
Baking doesn’t have to be just for the sweet-toothed. Look up some recipes for quiches, savoury pies, or cakes made from vegetables such as beetroot or courgette - you’ll be surprised at how tasty these are!
In your local community
Organise a bake-off or ‘guess the weight of the cake’ competition at your local fair, festival or fete. You can even include your very important animal friends when Baking with Compassion: Pet treats are just as fun and easy to make, and perfect to sell at Farmers’ Markets or community events. It’s so lovely to think how many tails you can get wagging with some simple doggie biscuits!
Actor, Pauline McLynn has recorded a very special recipe of her own to celebrate the start of Bake with Compassion. See below to watch it now– and you might even recognise an appearance of Mrs Doyle from Father Ted - ah go on
I support Compassion in World Farming because I want to live in a world where the animals are treated with as much respect as we should treat each other
